The Satmap Active 10 Bike looks like an attractive bundle to us as it takes the Active 10 and adds bike back & bike mount and most importantly the 2700mAh LiPol rechargeable battery and wall & car chargers we think is essential to get the best power options with this unit.

Otherwise its the Active 10 package a handheld GPS unit with colour screen, high sensitive GPS receiver, electronic compass and SD card slot to allow access to Satmap's growing range of UK (Ordnance Survey) and International maps on plug & play pre-programmed SD cards (not included)

Key to making the most of the Satmap's navigational features are maps; the whole ethos of the unit is to allow you to navigate using the map page. Navigation is made easy when you either create a marker or single point on the map or a simple route ahead, all of which depends on having a map in the screen of course.

Whilst you can create route & trails on your PC and transfer them to the Satmap using SatSYNC; we have found the Satmap like many mapping hendheld GPS units offers a completely new way of navigation using the map page of the GPS and in our opinion the Satmap is in a class of its own in this respect.

We've been beta testing firmware update 1.4 due to be released in November 09; we're sure all Satmap users are going to very excited with the upgraded features included in the firmware release.

We've been working on some navigational guidance for Satmap users for both our Courses and our OnLIne Resource: so we've used the beta testing to produce a set of step by step guides which will be added to our OnLine Resource as soon as we can after the firmware update is released.

GPST Recommendation - We think this is an attractive package for bikers and walkers alike; it offers a reasonably priced package without access to the route planner etc and bikers have all the kit they need for use on a bike.

Many walkers and bikers have mapping software on thier PC like Memory-Map or Quo and would not require or use the OnLine Route planning & Route Share Network that is included in with the Active 10 Plus.
