Learn to navigate using Map & Compass, GPS & Digital Maps

Whether you are a complete novice just thinking that GPS may be a useful navigational tool, someone who has never managed to get to grips with the technology, or a GPS user who just wants to learn more, we have a course that will suit your needs and at a venue not too far from where you live.

Map & Compass

Many of our customers like to brush up on their basic navigation skills before taking getting up to speed with GPS; so for 2010 we are providing at least three opportunities to attend NNAS Bronze Level Award courses run by Geraldine Fardon a qualified National Navigation Award instructor.

This is a two day course leading to the National Navigation Award Scheme bronze level qualification. This requires you to be able to navigate in the countryside using paths, tracks and other linear features, as well as basic map interpretation and compass work.

GPS Training Courses with OnLine Support

Picking your way through the minefield of conflicting advice about the best GPS for your needs is not easy. The smart way to do this is to learn how the system works before you invest. Our initial one day course Getting Started with GPS and Digital Maps is all about the basic use of GPS. How the GPS system works, correct GPS set up, how to create and use marks, waypoints & routes followed by an introduction to using the power of mapping software to make GPS route planning easy.

As its name suggests, Going Further with GPS and Digital Maps is the next step on the way to a complete understanding of how to get the best from your GPS. The day reviews basics and moves on to the use of routes and trackbacks in the field. The course ensures that you will be able to transfer coordinates and routes from a GPS to a digital mapping software system. There will also be an opportunity to get hands-on with Memory-Map or Quo during a structured tutorial.

These two days are designed to naturally follow on from each other and in most cases are run on consecutive days the single day course fee for 2010 will be £79 per day - however we will as usual be offering a double day discount book both days for just £125.

Many of our clients say they find it difficult ot take all the learning in during the two days and would like to have a way of reinforcing learning at home after the course. Now you can add unlimited access to our OnLine Resource (RRP £29.99) for just £10 when you book any 2 day GPS Training Course now only £135 giving you a massive saving of £53.
