Getting to Grips with GPS Navigation Basics - Day1

If you are considering making your first GPS purchase or have bought one of the new generation of Garmin GPS with OS maps and would like to find out how to get the best from your new device, maps and free BaseCamp PC software then this one day training course is for you.

The course will be a very practical day with you getting hand-on with either your own GPS or one of our loan units. The aim of the day is that you will leave the course with the skills to navigate using a GPS confidently using waypoints, routes and tracks, and understand how you can use Garmin's free utility BaseCamp to buy additional maps, send user data like routes & trails to/from your device, manage data files and become involved in the growing sport of Geocaching using wireless sharing & paperless geocaching.

Learn how to get the best from your Garmin mapping

& BaseCamp free software - Day2

This course builds on the first of our Garmin Outdoors GPS Training days; where you learn how to practically naviagate using the multitude of features in your Garmin GPS. The second day moves on to enable you to combine the power of your GPS with your PC or Mac for route planning, data management and sending user data like routes & tracks to/from your GPS

Once again this will be a very practical day with you getting hand-on with either your own GPS or one of our loan units and using our course laptops to learn how to use a PC to communicate with your GPS using structured exercises under the supervision of a GPS expert.

The final session of the day will concentrate on how you can broaden the use of your GPS at home and abroad. You will find out how you can download additional mapping for your device like 25k OS Explorer & IGN maps & be aware of the growing portfolio of International maps for your Garmin GPS. We'll discuss how you can create your own custom maps using Google Earth and access routes and trails from home and abroad and become involved in the growing sport of Geocaching using wireless sharing & paperless geocaching.

The final session concludes with information on the importance of managing your device & software; such a software updates and unit software updates freely available from Garmin and the source of fixes for software glitches and new GPS features.
