On the Road Maps - Include POI's (Points of Interest) and the full road system for the country in question in both cities & rural areas, gives turn by turn instructions, traffic data for devices with traffic receivers, DVD only includes MapSource Windows software that lets you plan trips on your computer and transfer waypoints, routes and tracks between your device and your PC.

On the Water Maps - contains coverage of area selected, high-definition shoreline and bathymetric detail, includes rivers, streams and creek channels, allows you to search by lake or city, includes interstates, highways and general roads, selected maps contain MarineEye, MannerEye and FishEye features.

On the Trail Maps - Includes topographical coverage for the country, scale & area selected. In the case of OS GB Discover Range contains summit locations with elevation, detailed contours, and trig points, allows search by city, geographic point, summit, lakes and more, includes POI's such as parks, scenic outlooks, lodgings, food etc, allows you to navigate both off road or on road, provides turn by turn routing using Navteq software.

Choose the Mapping formulae that suits your usage

Garmin MapSource range of maps is generally available in three formats: How you wish to use the mapping will help you decide which format is best for you.

Download from the Garmin website – go to the Garmin website add your map selection to your shopping cart and follow the on screen instructions. Using this method the maps are licensed to one compatible Garmin GPS

On MicroSD card – purchase the map on pre-programmed SD card. This is the easiest way to access maps; simply Plug & Play. This method is quite flexible if you have multiple maps as you can just change one plug & play card for another.

On DVD – when you install both MapSource and Maps to your PC then you can use MapSource to manage data files, save to your PC and send data files like route to your GPS. MapSource will also allow you to transfer licensed maps to your GPS. Having MapSource & Maps on your PC allows you to use the contents for route planning and if you do have an accident and loose you maps they can be re-installed.
