Two day map & compass course leading to NNAS Bronze Level Award - £120 pp.

The course is led by Tony Stoddard; Tony is a qualified NNAS instructor and mountain guide, recently he has been working with our friends at Skedaddle running cycling & mountain bike holidays at home and abroad.
This course is designed to give you the skills & confidence to navigate at a basic level.
The course will cover:
Maps, scales, grid references and how they work
Map interpretation
Navigation using paths, tracks & linear features
The essential information needed to use a map in the field
How to create & follow a compass bearing
There will be plenty of opportunities to get hands-on in the field to practice all these newly acquired skills and have the satisfaction of knowing the end result will be a qualification at Bronze Level under the NNAS award scheme. To earn this you will need to be able to navigate in the countryside using paths, tracks, and other linear features, interpret maps at a basic level and use a compass over a route of 2-5 kilometres.
Is this course right for you?
If you have little or no experience of navigation in the field, or wish to brush up on existing skills as well as the satisfaction of achieving the nationally recognised NNAS Bronze Level qualification, then this course will be right for you. All tuition is carried out within easy walking distance of the village hall either on the fells at low level or on local footpaths.
