Help us create a database of the commonly used GPS Settings?

Have you used your GPS abroad?

Can you remember the settings that worked for you?

If so then you could help us create a worldwide database of the most commomly used GPS settings. More and more people want to use a GPS on their travels; finding out what are the correct or most commonly used settings to use for use in a given country is not easy.

We don’t want complicated formulae or detailed explanations of how grid systems work just a simple list of the commonly used settings. We’ve searched the Internet with no luck and talked to our friends at Garmin who are unaware of such a resource, so with their support we are going to put together a list ourselves and make it freely available to all.

Can you help? If you’ve used your GPS anywhere in the world successfully and are prepared to help others do the same, could you check our list of settings found using our list, and if the country in question is missing from the list email peter@gpstraining.co.uk with the following details:  Country

Position Format Used

Map Datum Used

Time Zone Used

on receipt of this information we’ll add the details to our list.

Everything has to start somewhere so at the moment our list looks a bit thin, but we hope in time it with your help it will grow into a comprehensive resource.
