In partnership with GPS Training, Memory-Map has launched the new Navigation Workshop interactive DVD designed to make navigating the countryside easier, safer and more fun for everyone.
Great for walkers & bikers of all ages - just watch this interactive DVD on a TV to learn all about how to use a map, compass and GPS. Step-by-step guides with computer animation and video show how to plan routes safely, improve map reading skills, use a compass, and get the most out of GPS. Exercises and a FREE 90 day trial of Memory-Map software complete with 20 routes across the country and printed Ordnance Survey® map samples are included to allow new skills to be practised. Navigation Workshop also includes a GPS buyers guide to help people choose which GPS best suits their needs - especially useful with all the new technology now available in the GPS world such as colour handhelds, basemaps, wrist units & Pocket PCs. Garmin, Magellan, Silva & Navman all supported the DVD with the loan of the latest units.
The beauty of an interactive DVD is that it enables students to learn at their own pace. There are nine sections on the DVD, that use real video footage as well as the latest in computer animation to explain how to navigate with map, compass & GPS. Exercises along the way, with sample printed Ordnance Survey LandrangerTM & ExplorerTM maps, are designed to check knowledge levels and allow tasks to be completed in local areas. The free 90-day trial of Memory-Map digital mapping software also includes 20 walkingworld routes spread across the country so that users can further test their new navigational skills. With the Memory-Map software, Ordnance Survey maps can be printed to use with a compass or the route can be saved to a GPS. Memory-Map's Managing Director, Ray Badminton says: "Our customers helped us identify a gap in the market and, together with GPS Training, we have produced a simple to use interactive DVD that will make navigation easier to learn and safer for a lot of people. There is no other product available that provides such a visual and intuitive step by step guide to using a map, a compass and a GPS. This product will appeal to all, from families wanting to plan a safe walking or cycling route to the more serious walker looking for more in-depth information about GPS." Peter Judd, from GPS Training adds: "We were pleased to work with Memory-Map on the DVD. People will learn a great deal about the world of navigation from the DVD and will then be encouraged to develop both GPS and traditional navigational skills further by taking part in our training courses with an expert." ![]() |
