I found that the Podcast on the new GPSMAP66S very interesting - Thank you.Firstly I consider that Garmin have missed the opportunity to make the batteries compatible with UPS charging. I do long distance walking often carrying all my gear and have to include an AA battery charger. I have a UPS charger for my phone and camera so it would be a benefit to me. I would rather carry a UPS power back up to suit all my devices.Does the 66S have improved capabilities ie is there still a restriction on the number of Direct plotting points being 250 as I find this a problem. With my 62S I have to move to orientate it do I have to do this with the 66S ?Kind RegardsRay Grange

Thanks for your enquiry, With the GPSMap66s if you put in the Garmin AA Rechargeable Battery Pack you will be able to use a UPS Emergency supply to keep the batteries charged and also use the unit. There is a lot of new features on the GPSMap66s compared to the older 62 and 64 units, if you join our VIP list we will keep you up to date with everything as we get to grips with the new unit. A track can now have up to 20,000 points but directing routing is still the 250x which aids with the loading of Routes, we have found that with other units on the market that do allow for Direct Routes to be made up of more than 250x points they are are often very slow to load if you do go past this figure and you are still better keeping to this figure and just splitting long distance routes into days or converting them to tracks before sending them to your unit. I hope this helps.
