I bought this unit about two months ago and love it. Great support over the phone and I could not have got going without all the paperwork and support I have received from GPS Training.

The biggest selling point for me was the larger screen. As a spectacle wearer and wanting to use it for cycling as well as walking it is a big advantage. The unit is a little heavy but as it incorporates a camera it saves having to carry a separate one.The support from GPS Training is excellent with full on-line courses and video tutorials. I highly recommend the product and the company.

I purchased the Montana 680 for use on the Coast to Coast walk. I had very little walking experience and no navigation skills so the Garmin was essential. I am pleased to say it performed perfectly. The guys at GPS pre loaded the C2C route for me and with many way points it helped me AND many people I met during the walk to stay on course. I had a particularly challenging day in the Lake District when the weather turned bad but again the Montana was up to the job. Highly recommend.

GPS Training very helpfully supplied an open source map of North Cyprus for our walking trip in the Kyrenian mountains in August. The additional temp sensor registered 44 degrees and the large display proved very readable in the bright sunlight. We had downloaded detailed walking routes but without the Montana would certainly have gone astray in several places. The device was also invaluable in the rental car as a satnav with the usual Garmin efficiency we have come to enjoy from our other devices. The start up is rapid and the accuracy is excellent. On the Yorkshire moors the Montana proved its worth in typically misty low cloud. The menus take some time to understand but quickly become easy to use and intuitive. The wide range of functions is brilliant and the trip and tracking functions are fun to use. The camera function is an added bonus which allows pictures to be tagged as part of each adventure. These functions are complemented by the Basecamp system which provides a comprehensive recording and planning suite. The Montana is a brilliant piece of kit. Though expensive, already it has proved to be excellent value for money in terms of performance and reliability. Battery life is excellent, even with the screen brightness turned up. It is chunky but this is offset by its clarity and abundance of features. Back up from GPS Training is superb.

I bought this unit to use primarily on a motorcycle for road and green lane use. It has been an excellent for this. I also have used it for hill/mountain walking instead of a paper map. Again very happy with my purchase. I spent a long time looking for this GPS Unit and eventually decided to purchase it from gpstraining.co.uk . I am glad I did this even though I could have bought the unit cheaper elsewhere. The advice given prior to buying was both expert and patient. After sales has also been first class. I have had Garmin GPS units for over 8 years and now get far more out of this unit and Basecamp (as well as my other garmin than before) so I consider this well worth the extra I paid. Could not be happier. Jonathan
